Reading our 25th Anniversary Report was a very moving experience for me. I laughed, I cried (sort of), I was inspired, I was depressed… but mostly I was humbled by my classmates’ transparency.

My “Post-Veritas memoir” (Notes on The Life of an Artist Trapped in the Body of Businessman: 1983-2008) never got written but I’m happy to report that I’ve begun writing my Post-“Post-Veritas memoir” memoir (Notes on The Life of a Businessman Trapped in the Body of an Artist: 2008-?).

Life has been very kind to me. ’83-’08 has been an awesome journey featuring a bittersweet mix of highs and lows that have left me a better man. The highs seem to be based on rewarding relationships and artistic expression. The lows are undoubtedly marked by the death of loved ones and the sometimes harrowing experience of balancing work life with the rest of life. Throughout it all, I remain amazed by the marvelously resilient and adaptive nature of humans.

My favorite Harvard memory is partying on Commencement Day in 1983… followed closely by my memory of partying during Freshman Week in 1979. My favorite Harvard-related memory in the last 25 years is Paul Cusick getting searched for weapons before one of my performances as a Rap Artist. What a silly crowd control engineer… Everyone knows Paul doesn’t need weapons!

Caroline and I have been a couple for eight years. She’s still in the securities industry and I continue to help technology marketers deal with challenges presented by the fragmentation of the online media landscape. We are absolutely obsessed (in all the good ways) with Murray the Pillow King, our beloved canine son of five years. We’re splitting our time between our places in Weymouth and Falmouth, MA. We love that dirty water but we love Nantucket Sound a little more.

The corporate world is a draining experience for me so I sustain my life force by spending time with people I love, painting abstract images, making music, rooting for Boston sports teams, and laughing. Lots of laughing!

As Pablo Picasso said "Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up."

Dear Classmates, May you all remain artists!

I look forward to seeing old friends and meeting new ones at our reunion!
